We couldn't get ready because the first room had no hot water. The replacement had only lukewarm water. They offered yet another room, this one on the second floor, despite our request for a first-floor accessible room because of my grandmother. If the elevators were out in an emergency, how would she get down safely? There was only one woman working, and when we asked for a manager or general manager, she kept saying she'd just started and had nobody to call. But when we went back again about a random $50 charge on our card, apparently a deposit that wasn't disclosed on the website or at check-in, she suddenly had someone she could call. We're now seeing another unexplained pending charge as I write this. The sign listed Parth Shah as manager on duty, so the claim that no manager was available seemed suspicious. The staff were incompetent, the rooms were botched and lacked basic amenities, and the service was deplorable. I would never go back. Don't stay here if you expect to get your money's worth.

We slept well in a quiet location that felt safe, with plenty of restaurants nearby. The staff were friendly, and adjoining rooms are available. The rooms feel freshly updated, with tasteful decor, soft pillows, fresh linens, comfortable beds, and high ceilings that don't feel stuffy. There are also wireless chargers. The price is right, and I'd recommend it 10/10.

I came for work, and for the price, they've done a pretty good job with the recent refurb. If you don't know, Sparks are usually refurbished old Days Inns or Hamptons. The rooms and beds were clean. The doors are definitely hard to close, and you can hear people in the other rooms, but it's a budget hotel, so I can't complain. I'd recommend staying here for now. Hopefully ownership keeps it nice.

The room was very clean, I felt safe, and the front desk guy was super nice and friendly. Great location too. My only reason for giving four stars is the $150 hold for incidentals. Hilton stays in the past have held $25 to $50. Still recommend.

I usually stay at Holiday Inn Express, but after checking TripAdvisor reviews for the La Grange HIE, I couldn't bring myself to book it. I'm glad I found Spark instead. For a former Quality Inn, the renovation is impressive, and our room was clean, which mattered most to us. Keep the maintenance up and the place clean, and this property should do well.
