Colonial Gables Oceanfront Village

Our cottage was so close to the water that we could fall asleep to the waves on shore. It was modern, well equipped, and kept in great shape, and the grounds were well maintained too. The staff were incredibly helpful. Young’s Lobster Pound and downtown are only a few miles away. We’ll be back.

The staff really made us feel at home. There’s a good-sized campus for a casual walk, plus an outdoor oceanfront park, so we didn’t have to drive to stretch our legs. You can choose an ocean-facing cabin with a deck or one of the pretty country-style motel rooms. They also have accessible rooms. It was clean and quiet, and pets are allowed if you call ahead. Moosehead State Park is a mile up the road, and Belfast has plenty of good places to eat.

Cabin 10 was clean, had a pretty view, and we could park right beside it. Having a kitchen mattered to us, and we loved the rest of the place. The pillows were very thick and gave us neck aches, though, and the mattress was older. It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t great. There are a lot of bright lights outside at night, so we wished they were dimmer and we could see more stars. There’s no pool, but we didn’t mind.

We enjoyed a gorgeous sunrise walk along the shoreline the morning after our stay in a spacious cottage overlooking the Atlantic. The rooms were very clean, the beds comfortable, and the full kitchen was useful. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the room rates were competitive. It’s conveniently just off Route 3. My one issue was the heat pump, which was quite dirty and looked overdue for cleaning. I have two siblings in the HVAC industry, so I notice that sort of thing, and the dirt and mold on this one were easy to see. I’d driven past many times before finally staying here last week, and I’ll return.
