Comfort Suites

We ended up paying extra without the discount, on top of our original reservation, and got no refund. My partner and I booked under his dad, who works for Choice hotels, and called this location twice ahead of time to confirm the advertised friends and family rate and that we could stay under his name. Two days earlier, we'd stayed at another Comfort Suites in San Antonio with the same details and policy and had no problem. But at check-in, the front desk woman said what we'd been told was wrong and that we couldn't use the booking. The manager was away and she was in training, so we couldn't speak to anyone, even though we'd called to avoid exactly this. The miscommunication and poor management reflect badly on the hotel. I'm appalled by how it was handled and wouldn't stay here again.

The pool wasn't open, which was a bummer, though it gave us another reason to head to the beach. We had a great time as a family, and the hotel was super close to the beach and restaurants. The room was clean and really nice, with comfortable beds. The staff were fantastic and friendly, and breakfast was hot, with eggs, waffles, meat, and potatoes. I didn't notice any bugs or leaks, the water pressure was fine, and the room warmed up quickly and stayed nice and cold. My husband said I was turning him into a popsicle. Happy wife, happy life.

The rooms had a long list of problems. We switched rooms because of big roaches, then moved again because of smoke smells, and later had to change because one room didn't have the king bed we'd requested. The shower rod was barely attached with what looked like super glue, and the shower head was almost coming out of the wall. Mirrors needed replacing, tape was left on the ceiling and walls from a previous guest, one sink was clogged, and every room had torn carpet. A wall thermostat didn't work even though a sign said to use it, and the AC wouldn't keep things cool all day. Housekeeping also wouldn't give us extra towels until we'd used all the old ones. The hotel is really old, so don't be fooled by the pictures or the lobby. It's a dump in a deserted looking area in the middle of nowhere. My photos only show snippets, it was way worse. Please stay away.

After a long, hot day at work, I arrived at 4 o'clock, paid, and then had no running water for about three to four hours. We couldn't shower or even wash our hands. I left, and there still wasn't any water. They knew about the outage but kept booking people without telling them. They kept saying plumbers were working on it, but I didn't see a plumber while I was there. It was a really bad experience for me, my wife, and our three kids. They also made it very hard to get my money back, and I'm not even sure they'll refund it. How could they expect us to stay without running water and still give us a hard time about a refund? I don't recommend this place.
