Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham La Porte

What stuck with me most was the customer service. I needed a hotel while visiting family since I'm not from Houston and they had no room for me. When I arrived, nobody was at the front desk. Then an Indian man wearing a tank top and what looked like underwear came out to help. My debit card was giving me trouble, and he said something like, “Sir, don’t waste my time, are you going to pay?” I'd been respectful up to then and was in a good mood, so I just laughed off the disrespect. Another day, I might have reacted differently. I got my key, and the hotel itself was just okay. It was shocking to hear an employee say his time was being wasted when he had been doing nothing before that. Respect goes a long way, and this place has none. I stayed a few months ago but felt I needed to leave a review.

Jen, the manager, checked me in late yesterday and out this morning, and she was pleasant and professional. For a week long road trip with five hotels across three states, this was the best value for my money. The room was very clean and had room for several open suitcases, plenty of drawers, and a small table with two chairs. There were toiletries, a hair dryer, lots of towels for two, a comfortable bed, and a dimmer for the ceiling lights above it. The dedicated area had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and ice bucket. The iron and ironing board worked well, and the nearby clothes rack had sturdy removable hangers. The decor and matching appliances were tasteful. AC was powerful but quiet, and the TV and phone worked. It was a quiet spot, with more than half the cars gone from the lot when I checked at 7:15am. There's a small pool at one end of the U shaped building, and the lot and grounds were clean and well kept. The quality for the low price impressed me. I'd highly recommend this location and stay again if I return to the area.

We've stayed here several times, and the staff have always been great and friendly. This time the floor was wet, as if it had just been mopped. That hasn't happened before, so we dried it with a towel and then used that towel to step on after showering. There was also a long dark hair in the back corner of the shower. This isn't the usual experience for us here.

I felt fairly safe traveling alone as a woman. The hotel was quiet, and the parking lot and outside areas were clean and well lit. It's remote, though there are nice neighborhoods a few blocks away. The room had basic necessities, was clean, and wasn't luxurious, just a place to sleep. The mattress was comfortable, and the shower and vanity area were nice. The photos were accurate, but the HELLO SUNSHINE linen piece wasn't on the bed. There was a coffee pot but I had to ask for coffee. Management could update the website to make it clear there's no breakfast item. The lobby should also open at 7 a.m. for checkout, so guests don't have to stand at the window in the rain. Mr. Danny seemed nice and treated me properly when we interacted. It was safe and comfortable enough for sleep, and I might stay again. Good basic accommodations for safety and convenience.
