Sonesta Simply Suites Chicago O'Hare

The bed was just okay, but almost everything else made this a terrible stay. The AC didn't work, the lights were dim and barely functioning, and the power sockets were loose. The bathroom was in awful shape, and neither it nor the room seemed to have been properly cleaned. There was a strong cigarette smell that wouldn't go away. I wouldn't recommend it or say it's worth the money. If I could give zero stars, I would.

There's no Wi-Fi, the water pressure is a bit weak, and the walls and furniture are pretty worn. You do get a mini fridge, though no microwave. Housekeeping handles the basics, like replacing a burned-out light and restocking shampoo and soap, but they won't make the bed. Still, it's close to the airport, warm, reasonably clean, and I feel okay leaving my things in the room. It's a cheap hotel, so you get what you pay for. Fine for a night's sleep, but probably not if you plan to spend much time at the hotel.

The front desk staff were really nice, but the hotel itself is a dump. The furniture was filthy and broken, and the shower only had decent pressure on the hot setting. I got there a few hours before the 3:00 check-in time. They wanted $30 if I stayed in the breakfast area or lobby for more than 30 minutes, even though the furniture there was beat up and broken. I'm never coming back.

The night was miserable because of loud noise from the room next door, and when I called the front desk at 4 a.m. for help, the staff were dismissive and useless. Check-in had already taken an incredibly long time because of a “system upgrade.” I expect a hotel to provide a quiet place to sleep, and this one completely failed at that. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
