After stays in dozens of hotels across multiple countries, our visit to Wyndham Super 8, Lacey stood out for the way we were treated. We’re traveling to visit all 195 UN-recognized countries, and the United States was number 79. Mr. Karanbir welcomed us on a rainy night with warmth and respect. Check-in was smooth and understanding, especially for my senior citizen parents, and we appreciated not being pressed for an unnecessary security deposit. The room was excellent, well maintained, and had thoughtful essentials like an iron. Breakfast was fresh and nutritious, good for travelers on the move. Parking was right by the ramp, so my parents didn’t have to climb stairs. Mr. Karanbir also took time to tell us about the local city, culture, and traditions. His genuine care made our stay comfortable and memorable. My heartfelt thanks to him and the Wyndham team for valuing their guests.
This place is a no-go if you want to feel safe and sleep well. It’s very old and dated, and smelled of smoke and old socks. The first thing I saw was a blood stain on the wall behind the bed. There were holes and damage in the doors and walls. The breakfast bar had cereal, bagels, and toast, with no hot food. The staff were nice, at least.
I spent two nights at a Super 8. The bathroom was a disaster: the toilet was clogged from the start, the sink wasn’t connected, and a badly leaking drain soaked everything I’d put on the floor. Showering was no better. Water backed up instead of draining, and when I checked the drain I pulled out one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen, something no hotel guest should have to deal with. I told the front desk, but they only apologized and offered no solution, discount, or complimentary stay. It felt like they just shrugged it off.
I keep my expectations pretty low, so it says a lot that this stay was bad enough to make me write a review. Doors slammed constantly, people yelled, and there were fights inside or outside the motel. I got only five hours of sleep, waking every 20 minutes when someone slammed a door. We should’ve gone somewhere else. The “breakfast” was frozen waffles in a bag to toast, with no gluten-free choices for people with celiac disease, dietary restrictions, or food allergies. The bathroom had no fan and rust in the shower, and the water pressure was so weak I spent half an hour trying to rinse shampoo from my scalp. Most light switches didn’t work, the furniture was torn, and the TV only worked if you had your own Netflix account. I have no idea why this place gets five-star reviews. It’s a mess.
The hotel is dated, but the rooms were clean and the beds and pillows were soft. We booked two rooms for two nights, and the staff kindly sorted out our last-minute request to put them next to each other. The kids loved the pool, and breakfast is free. A restaurant shares the parking lot, with a gas station next door, which was handy. We’d absolutely stay again. The front desk guy was especially courteous and went out of his way to bring us extra towels while we were swimming. I think his name was KB or KM. Don’t expect fancy, but it’s a good value for a family.
