Weirs Beach Motel and Cottages

I had some mobility issues, so I chose a motel-style room and got a peek at the cottages for a possible future visit. The location was perfect, and even though I was beside the pool, I never heard the people using it. The room was very clean, with a few small age-related issues. It simply needs maintenance because it's old, and it doesn't have cable, which they disclosed beforehand. The office woman was helpful, and the room cleaners were welcoming and nice. When my friend forgot to return a room key, the office staff got in touch rather than charging the credit card right away. That's the kind of place this is. It was a pleasant stay, and I hope we'll come back.

This isn't fancy, but it's clean and affordable, and the lake, shops, and restaurants are only two tenths of a mile down the hill. It's a gem if you're on a budget, and we'll definitely be back. My son and I came up for the James Taylor concert at the end of June. Three years ago we stayed one night in the motel section, which was clean and comfortable. This time, three weeks ago, we rented a cottage for three days. I was crossing my fingers after the town's Biker Week in June, but the cabin was so clean. It was really humid, so the AC was a blessing. We had a small screened porch, plus a picnic table and chairs outside if we wanted them. There was also a TV, coffee maker and pods, and mini fridge. Honestly, what else do you need?

The cottage was tiny and within walking distance of restaurants, shops, the beach, ice cream, bars, and the arcade. There's even a tattoo shop if you want one. We loved the screened porch and spent every night there drinking and playing cards. The maid doesn't come in, which we like. For fresh linens, you fill out the sheet, put your dirty things in the wash basket, and set it out. My one complaint is the price, $179 a night. I recently stayed at a hotel for $115 a night that had fresh baked cookies at check-in, plus a hot tub, sauna, and huge gym. To me, $149 a night would've been spot on. Still, I don't regret staying. We absolutely loved this place.

The bathroom lighting made doing my makeup difficult, and the vanity lights made me look jaundiced! A mirror somewhere in the main room would help. 🤣 We had a great time here. Our little cabin was clean and comfortable, and I loved the screened porch. Self check-in was really easy. We came for the race in Loudon, and the drive from the motel to the track was easy. We also spent time at the arcade by the beach and went to some great restaurants. This isn't a five-star resort, and shouldn't be judged as one. We'll definitely be back.
