The recent changes really brightened up the property. My room was clean and smelled good, with new carpet in the room and building and different bedding colors. I also found my housekeeper kind and helpful, and my little dog liked her too. The front desk staff were polite, and masks were required for staff and guests throughout the hotel outside their rooms. I didn't see the shady people or traffic mentioned in older reviews. I come to Lafayette every month to visit my mom in a nursing home, and being able to bring my small dog matters a lot to me. I'll keep staying here on those visits and would suggest giving the place another look. You may be pleasantly surprised.

We had two rooms at the end of June 2022, one for my wife and kids and another down the hall for my in-laws. Both were in the same awful condition. The floors were wet and even the bed sheets felt damp. We skipped showering because we thought we'd come out dirtier than we went in. When I raised it with the front desk employee, he seemed not to care. Super 8 should be embarrassed to have its name on this hotel. I'd give it zero stars if I could. It doesn't deserve one, let alone its current 3.4 rating.

The bed was cozy and clean, but there are serious safety concerns here. My room had only lukewarm water, not hot water, which I worried could pose a Legionnaires' disease risk. The fire alarm had been pulled out of the ceiling, and the ground floor window could be pushed open with a firm tug. For a $50 bed I wasn't expecting pillow mints, and I'm not fussy about lodging, but these felt like major code violations.

The front desk staff were friendly, but the room was poorly maintained, with lifting floor tiles and peeling paint on the walls. We didn't feel safe there and left soon after arriving.

The staff were superb, and the coffee stayed hot. My husband and I had two very nice, quiet nights here with our two dogs. For this location, the privacy is amazing, and there's parking for big rigs too. If I'm in the area again, I look forward to coming back.
