Tru by Hilton Lafayette River Ranch

Blain at the front desk was helpful and very nice, and checking in was easy. My cat and I enjoyed staying at Tru by Hilton Lafayette River Ranch. The rooms are simple but have what you need for a short visit, including very cold mini-fridges, and the beds are firm and comfortable. The lobby has plenty of places to work, a pool table, coffee and hot water available around the clock. The area is beautiful, with lots of stores and restaurants nearby, including Fresh Market and Natural Grocers, and Carrabba's is right behind the hotel. I didn’t get to use the pool or fireplace, though I would have liked to with more time. Thanks, Tru by Hilton Lafayette River Ranch, for the hospitality. I’d recommend it if you’re in Lafayette.

I arrived at 9 PM, six hours after the stated 3 PM check-in, and my room still wasn’t ready. After another 20-minute wait, they said it was available. I paid and went upstairs, only to find a filthy room with trash everywhere, unmade beds, and a strong smoke smell. It looked like nobody had even tried to prepare it. The desk then said it was their last room, despite having taken my payment. After I pushed the issue, they sent me to a different hotel, Comfort Suites, ten minutes away, which usually costs much less. I paid over $130 and ended up in a place worth $80-90, so I lost money because of their incompetence. There had been no communication or warning beforehand, and barely an apology. This was complete mismanagement, not just an inconvenience. Avoid this hotel. They can’t handle basic things like cleaning rooms or honoring reservations.

The location was good, and the front desk staff were good too, but my room and the hallways had a funky, bed-head kind of smell. The sheets smelled so bad I wouldn’t sleep in them. The bathrooms had an off smell as well, and some air freshener might help. The hallways were dirty throughout my entire stay. Please fix the laundry detergent and clean the halls.

Everyone was friendly, professional, and attentive, from the front desk to the kitchen and housekeeping teams. The front desk staff were always welcoming and helpful, the kitchen team prepared delicious meals with care, and housekeeping kept everything clean and organized. You can feel the teamwork in all the details. I really appreciated the service and would definitely recommend this place.
