Courtyard by Marriott LaGrange

The front desk people were helpful and friendly, and our room was neat and clean. The lobby looked really nice, with Christmas decorations while we were there. It’s conveniently close to places to eat and drink, and some rooms have a great view of the square.

Kendal, I believe that was her name, was the best part of our stay. She knew the system well and went out of her way to get us checked in smoothly. I hope her excellent service, which feels rare, gets recognized. The rest of the hotel needs serious attention. The outside looked clean, but inside the shower hadn’t been cleaned: it had dried soap, hair, and bits on the walls from whoever showered before us. The elevators and hallways looked neglected too, and the trash can by the elevators was an eyesore. That lack of care made me wonder about the toilet and room cleaning as well. The second floor smelled of BBQ smoke, a known issue, so we had to change rooms. We stayed one night, and that was enough. There’s no other hotel in LaGrange, so people have little choice when visiting. Management needs to get the place up to standard. I was also charged $5 for using my Amex. One receipt labeled it a state hotel tax, while mine called it an Amex fee, which is absurd. I’ll raise that with Marriott corporate. There’s also a convention and tourism tax fee, and I don’t know what it’s for. The front desk staff are great, but management needs to get things together.

Everyone at the front desk was friendly and accommodating, and the room had just been cleaned. The service was amazing, and I have no complaints. I’ll get some pictures next time because I’m definitely coming back.

The rooms were very clean and updated, and the staff were friendly. There’s a parking deck right outside, and it’s a great hotel. Just be prepared for noise: an event next door sounded like a concert outside our room from 9 p.m. until 3:30 a.m. You can hear people in the hallway and outside through the walls. The hotel staff couldn’t do anything about it.
