14 West Hotel

For my two nights in town to see nearby music, I needed an affordable room on my own, and 14 West worked out to be both reasonable and accommodating. After a bad experience with the staff at a Hollywood hotel the night before, I was glad to be welcomed so warmly here. The room was just right for what I needed. It was cold that night and the heat didn't really work, but they brought me a space heater. A few things may be a little outdated, as some reviews mention. What mattered to me was having a safe, friendly, accessible place in my favorite beach town, at a price I could manage. I'd enthusiastically recommend it. Thank you!

The front desk staff really know how to look after guests, and the room choices are great, including some beautiful top-floor King rooms. You’re across the street from the beach and a grocery store, with a five-minute walk to the Laguna boardwalk and dining options along the way. The location and price are hard to beat. This Boutique Beauty has made me unlikely to use another hotel.

The friendly, attentive staff made our overnight getaway even better. We had a comfortable King Size bed and a fireplace in the room, which was a nice touch. The place is right across from the beach and close to downtown Laguna Beach. There’s also a grocery store around the corner if you need food, drinks, or forgot to pack something. We had a great stay and would come back.

We stayed on the older side by the pool, in room 51. It was clean, well stocked, and just what I expected from an older space. The beds were super comfortable, and I slept like a baby. The pool area feels like a lagoon and looks beautiful lit up at night. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, and the location puts you near the beach, shops and boutiques, restaurants, and a convenience store. The town is easy to explore on foot, and all those little stops are an activity in themselves. Breakfast was a bit dry when I first went out at 7:20am. There was cereal but no milk, and bagels with jelly but no cream cheese. Luckily, I could make the available oatmeal with the coffee and hot water. When I checked back half an hour later, the milk and cream cheese had been put out, so they must have noticed. There was nobody around to ask at first. The other issue was the room door: it only closes using the key for the deadbolt, with no latch. Coming and going with several people was hard. I'm not sure if that applies only to this room.
