Laguna Hills Inn by Irvine Spectrum

For a single night when you’re desperate, it might do, but there are nicer, cheaper places around Anaheim. The price feels high for what you get. The workers were friendly, though it often felt like I was expected to manage things myself: staff sent me to fetch items, then other workers scolded me for doing so. The desk service was poor. The room was fairly clean, but the coffee pot clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a while. Water pressure was weak, the shower head was broken, and the water never got hot. The old spring mattress wasn’t comfortable, and the carpet smelled like dog urine. I also saw rats on the property drinking from the pool, and didn’t see any traps.

There’s a lot nearby, with the Irvine Spectrum right next door, plus a pool and hot tub at the hotel. Mornings include a great complimentary breakfast. I’ve stayed here several times without any problems, and the staff have always been friendly and very helpful. The bathrooms are modern and clean, and the rooms have flat-screen TVs with Cox cable. For the quality of the stay, I think this place is underrated.

The continental breakfast was very nice, and the staff were great. My room was nice too, so the only thing that kept me from giving five stars was the pool area. It’s small and could use an update, though with all the beaches around, who really needs the pool? Overall, it’s a fine place to stay.

The breakfast was delicious, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you don’t have another option. We were told we’d have two queen beds, but they were all taken by the time we checked in. My kids got the sofa bed, whose mattress was worn out, flat, and springy. The main bed was hard, its pillows were extremely flat, and the blankets had stains. The room was clean except for the headboard and nightstands, which clearly hadn’t been wiped down. That grossed me out. The bathroom sink was on the dresser beside the TV, which seemed odd. Luckily, water didn’t splash everywhere and cause electrical trouble. For what we paid for one night, I suppose it could’ve been worse. 🤔🤢
