Hyatt House Auburn Hills / Detroit

On a Saturday, the noise and crowds made the stay tough. A party group occupied the lobby all night and was loud, and there were kids all over the hotel. A toddler in the room next door cried through the night, while kids ran along the hallway making noise until about 10 PM. I’d probably come back on a night other than a weekend, since the room itself was clean, comfortable, and modern. The hotel is a solid, basic Hyatt in a handy spot near I-75, restaurants, and shopping. The staff were friendly, breakfast was good, and both mobile check-in and the mobile key worked perfectly. It also smelled nice and felt modern.

What stuck with us most was how warmly the three women at the desk treated us. They made us feel at home, and we learned that two of them were a mother and daughter working together. It was lovely to see, and we noticed other guests seemed happy with them too. We’re booking another trip now, and because of them, we wouldn’t choose another hotel in the area. We were there in February for my birthday, visiting the aquarium and outlet mall. The location was great, and our studio felt like home, with everything we needed. The layout was clever, especially the L-shaped couch and TV that swiveled between the living area and bedroom. The bathroom was gorgeous and the bed was comfortable.

My family spent four nights here, and the staff did so much to keep us comfortable. They entertained my kids, helped them settle in, and gave them snacks. My two-year-old especially loved getting his “cereal” every night. One staff member even helped calm my newborn when I couldn’t. The hotel was spotless throughout, and the rooms were beautiful. My husband and I were really glad we picked this place.

The heated pool was a real highlight. It was actually warm, not just a hot room with freezing water. The hotel was quiet too, which matters when we’re traveling for sports and have to get up early. The beds were comfy, the place was well maintained, and the TV and heat worked. I especially liked being able to control the thermostat myself and having a blackout option for the windows. Our room and bathroom were clean. The location suited us. Breakfast wasn’t our favorite, though I have picky eaters. I did love the nice plates and bowls, and the disposable glasses and plates were a thoughtful touch.
