Courtyard Charlotte Arrowood

I didn't feel safe or supported by management during our stay, so I wouldn't return. Around 11:15 p.m. on Friday, June 5th, someone repeatedly tried my room keypad hard enough to wake me and my young child. Later, around 1:15 a.m., loud people in the hallway woke me again. I went to the front desk, but nobody was there and I couldn't see any overnight security. The next morning, the security guard I spoke with was dismissive and minimized what had happened. One woman at the front desk was kind and tried to help, but nothing was offered as compensation, even though housekeeping and the overnight front desk person saw the keypad the next morning.

This place might be okay for a couple of nights, but a longer stay gets frustrating because basic conveniences are lacking. There's no microwave in the room, so you have to go down the hall, and getting ice on the second floor is convoluted. The fitness centre is a joke, with mood lighting for some reason, and the WiFi is ridiculously slow. Worst of all, doing laundry means downloading a sketchy third-party app and paying through it just to spend $2.50 on detergent. You're better off finding somewhere nextdoor.

We didn't sleep well, and the room problems made things stressful. At check-in I was told the incidental charge would be $50, but more than that ended up on my card. The bathroom door kept sticking. When it wouldn't open at 5 a.m., I called the front desk and was told someone would come, but nobody did. I called again at 6, and someone finally came, after the neighbor went to the front because of the noise that night and because someone had opened her door while she was asleep. The ladies who came couldn't get our bathroom door open either. They told me to wait for some guy or switch rooms, but I couldn't move rooms then because my young children were sleeping. When my oldest woke up, he was the one who fixed the door's messed-up mechanism so it could open and close properly. If he hadn't, we wouldn't have been able to use the bathroom. I've stayed here before without any issues, but this time wasn't good.

Our first-floor room had a balcony, which was nice to look out from, and the location was quiet, off the main road. Parking was easy, the lobby had plenty of tables and chairs, and everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. Manager Sarah was especially charming and welcoming. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and we liked the shower. Great stay for our family.
