Fairfield Inn & Suites Orlando Lake Buena Vista in the Marriott Village

The low price was appealing, but my visit left me feeling this hotel is run down and poorly managed. There was a $25 nightly parking fee, and the person who checked me in wasn't very welcoming. The breakfast was standard continental fare, but much of the seating and furniture was torn and worn. The property needs renovations, and the mattresses are old and worn out. Two of the three elevators were down when I visited, and the ones available were slow. For similar money, I'd look elsewhere in the area.

Breakfast was good each morning, but we had a frustrating stay compared with our previous time at Marriott Village. We thought the Courtyard Marriott was much better than the Fairfield, and its rooms were nicer. There are no in-room safes, so you have to carry valuables with you. On Sunday, our room still wasn't ready at almost 5 PM. Every other day housekeeping had finished by 10 AM, but that day I waited the whole day just to get in and shower after the pool. All the ice machines were broken, and the lobby water container was never full.

Breakfast was good and the beds were very soft. It's an older hotel, though the rooms themselves don't feel dated. I wish the room lighting were better, especially by the vanity. Parking costs extra, but part of the charge is refunded at the end of your stay. The outdoor pool is heated; the hot tub didn't seem to be warming up.

The problems we reported got little response. We told the front desk, and they said “sorry” and that a technician would look at the room, but we were already checking out. As Marriott Bonvoy Elite members, we expected much better and won't choose Marriott over other hotels next time. The TV wouldn't turn on, and the window curtains were broken and couldn't close fully. Our room faced the courtyard, so people could see inside at night. The bathroom sink drained so slowly that it filled with water when we washed our hands or brushed our teeth. At the arcade, we spent $10 on a game card, but three machines took the money and were out of service. The mattress was filthy and clearly had a previous bed bug issue. I wouldn't recommend staying here even at the low price. It's not worth the money or the risk of bed bugs.
