Days Inn Lake Charles

After the long drive from Texas, we waited an hour and a half in the car during the night audit. We’d been told we could check in at 5 am with an early check-in fee, but then were told there were no rooms. The woman showed no concern, basically ignored us while we asked what could be done, and eventually gave us a room. She was snooty and rolled her eyes. The people running the place were so unfriendly. Very poor customer service.

The room had a few nice features, and they seem to be remodeling, but the carpet had a huge stain and the lock looked like it had been busted out before it was replaced. We chose the place after seeing good reviews and a good price while traveling through Texas, but the two double beds instead of queens meant my husband and I had to sleep separately or get really close. The toilet paper holder was so far from the toilet that I had to get paper before sitting down. The shower drain didn’t work, so I ended up taking a shower and a half bath at once. There was coffee in the lounge and a prepackaged muffin, but no breakfast. That was my one and only stay.

Road noise made it hard to get to sleep. The hotel is right off I-10, and the walls are very thin, so bring earplugs. Parking is limited, and when the hotel is close to full, some people park behind the office, making it hard for others to back out without hitting a car. I’d recommend the night staff walk around and ask guests to move their vehicles to avoid damage. The room itself was good, very clean, and housekeeping came daily to replace towels and tidy up.

The room was extremely clean, apart from one small corner with water damage. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked great. Desk service was quick and friendly. The washing machine’s quarter mechanism was jammed, but someone came out within about two minutes and manually flipped the switch so I could do laundry. Breakfast was just a few snack options, but still a nice touch.
