I used this as my base for a bicycle race in Portola, and the location worked well, close enough to the event and other essentials. I stayed two nights. It’s a simple, no-frills place, but clean and had everything I needed. It was quiet apart from kids playing baseball in the parking lot in the evenings, which wasn’t the hotel’s fault. Seems like it’d be ideal for fishing or spending time at the lake. I’d recommend it.

Suite #5 had everything we needed for our end-of-summer fishing trip, including a patio area where we could set up our portable fire pit. We were pleasantly surprised to find room for four adults and one child. The WiFi signal was great, which helped our son, who has special needs and uses a tablet and video games. We heard there was a bear nearby but didn’t see or hear it. The setting was peaceful enough for a family of deer to wander past the patio. There’s hiking and fishing close by, and the lake is good for fishing, boating, kayaking, and paddle boarding. Ski boats aren’t allowed, so the lake draws the sort of crowd we enjoy. We had a wonderful experience with the new owner and would recommend the resort for a quiet, relaxing trip. Thanks for giving my family memories we’ll always cherish. We hope to stay for years to come.

We liked it so much that we added a third night to our original two. The bed was very comfortable, and the pillows felt new. I prefer soft pillows, so I’d bring my own next time, though it didn’t bother me. Jamie was great about answering questions. The trails for walking, hiking, and biking are less than a five-minute walk away, and the lake is about eight minutes on foot. The campsite next door has a small store with basics like bandages, snacks, and drinks. Portola is around a 15-minute drive, and we tried a few restaurants there, plus visited the railroad museum and Nature Preserve, both of which I recommend. Lake Davis Resort is under new ownership, and hosts Jamie and Jon were amazing. It was our first stay, and the room was very clean, with coffee, creamer, sugar, a microwave, and a mini fridge. I’m planning a cabin stay with my girlfriends and will review that separately.

They even used their backhoe to make a sledding hill for the kids, going well out of their way to do it. My wife, my three stepdaughters, and I have visited in winter to sled, play in the snow, and spend a weekend in a cabin. The service is outstanding, and the rates are very reasonable. We’re 1000% satisfied and I’m looking to book another stay. I’d highly recommend it for a quiet getaway, any time of year, for a weekend or a week. Thanks again.

We stayed in a standard king motel room, which was clean, updated, and had everything we needed for visiting the Lake Davis Recreation area. There was no air conditioning, the only reason I didn’t give five stars, though we knew that when booking. With the provided fan and the quiet setting, opening the windows in the evening worked perfectly. We’ll go back and highly recommend the place.
