Fairfield Inn Suites By Marriott Lake Geneva

The room itself was okay, but our neighbor’s dog barked and whined all night. I’ve never been so disappointed with a hotel. We booked two weeks ahead for Valentine’s weekend and live 2.5 hours away. Just after we left home, the hotel called to say the pool and hot tub wouldn’t be available that weekend, and asked if we still wanted to keep the reservation. There was no chance of finding anything else nearby at the last minute, which felt like a bit of bait and switch. When we got there, we asked for a small discount. The night clerk said he’d pass along the request, but it went nowhere. They said we already had some special rate, so no adjustment. Breakfast was another joke: watery eggs, raw sausage, and a rude attendant. Beware.

The pool and Jacuzzi were a real highlight, and breakfast was delicious. We also appreciated having coffee and lemon water in the lobby all day. They let us check in early, the staff were friendly and courteous, and our room was very clean and comfortable. Thanks for making our stay enjoyable, we really appreciate it.

A dog across the hall barked whenever there was any movement. The front desk staff seemed completely unmotivated to help, yes, that’s sarcasm. Poor experience overall, and I won’t use this hotel again. The tub beside the couch was the finishing touch.

The location was handy, close to everything we wanted to see, and the room was a really nice size. The bed, though, was one of the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept in, and we both woke up with backaches. There were bugs around the window, several alive and several already dead, so this clearly wasn’t a new problem. It made us think the window area wasn’t cleaned very often. We tried the continental breakfast, but the eggs and sausages were cold. I rarely leave a bad review, but this was disappointing.
