My family and I have had a hard time and are staying here while we search for an affordable apartment big enough for five. Because of health issues, we're on a fixed income, but we have income and pay $155 a week ourselves, in addition to the $675 a week the county pays. We depend on internet for county calls and apartment searches, but it doesn't work in our cabin. We've raised it with the office many times, and a month later it's still not fixed. We can get internet a quarter mile down the road, but not 20 feet behind the main building. The owner seems unconcerned because the county pays either way. We also need phone calls from them, and this has made it harder to find a place. Our cabin seems not to have been updated since around 1983. The furniture looks like discarded roadside items, the beds are mattresses on the floor, the ceiling is caving in, and the front yard looks like a junkyard, with spare tires and a junk trailer by the door. The staircases seem to be the only new thing, probably because code required it. They don't even open the pool in summer or fill it. We don't keep our son's dog in the room. He's training it as a service dog because of his handicaps, and we pay $100 a week out of pocket. The motel and county act like giving up a family member is easy, even though we have a doctor's note. The place that houses the dog brings KJ to see my son for doctor's visits, about a couple hours every two weeks, most of that spent in a medical cab to and from Glen's Falls from Lake George. The motel called the cops on us once, which scared my wife, and also contacted the county trying to get us in trouble and stop our housing support. An office employee keeps sneaking up when delivering mail, even though we do nothing wrong. We mind our business and don't hang out outside because other people here seem shady, though we've noticed others with dogs who appear to live here. It feels like we're just a money pot. We're always afraid they'll put us on the curb, and we have to be careful about paying what we owe. The office feels rude and the motel is poorly managed. It doesn't feel family-friendly or even average as a place to stay. Please look at other hotels. The others seem nicer and don't play games with people's lives. I don't understand why the county pays $2,700 a month instead of helping people quickly find and move into an apartment. It seems like they may all be working together to scam tax dollars. They don't need traffic from the road anymore, since they've basically become a high-paid Section 8.

We paid $115, but the owner refused a refund even after we left a note and called. The booking company contacted him too, and he wouldn't listen to them or return the money. We found a much nicer hotel in the village for less. The room was shockingly bare, with just two beds and a TV, and looked filthy. There were no curtains on the back windows or in the bathroom, even though we were on the first floor. The pool was under a dark tarp. The bed leaned sideways when my husband lay on it; the owner blamed an upside-down box spring and seemed irritated about fixing it. That's when I noticed the mattresses were wrapped in plastic. I later saw reviews on several sites saying the place had bed bugs, which may explain the plastic. We'd booked a few weeks ahead after reviews said it was nothing fancy, which would've been fine since we only needed somewhere to sleep. We collected our things and left. Stay away from this place. You're better off sleeping in a box.

We came to Lake George for a friend's wedding weekend and stayed at legacy. Property manager Edwin was wonderful. He checked in regularly to see if we needed anything and spoke with us like we'd been friends forever. We really appreciated his kindness.

In winter, the heat didn't work, and we had no towels or toilet paper. The owner's space heater broke too, leaving the room under 40°. The car would've been a better place to sleep.

We stayed in July of 2015 and found it cozy, clean, and good for sleeping and showering while on vacation. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. For the money, it was a nice place. It's not the Ritz or Waldorf Astoria, so you'll be disappointed if you expect a luxury suite at a bargain price, but if you expect what you pay for, you'll be happy.
