Fran Cove Motel

The bed was comfortable, and I can't complain about the price, but the room should've been cleaner. It smelled a little musty, and the inside of the shower curtain was very dirty. The office wasn't open until 9 a.m., which seemed odd. They advertise a great view of Lake George, but you can't see the lake from the motel. It's very much a you-get-what-you-pay-for place. I wouldn't return unless I knew it had been updated.

The location was nice and the sheets were clean, and the pool looked okay. But the bathroom was a mess, with holes in the wall, no towel rack, and a broken toilet paper holder. There was nowhere to hang clothes and no closet. We didn't get towels or replacement coffee on the second day, and there were lots of people smoking pot outside our door.

My wife and I come back every year. Ali, who owns and runs the place, is a delightful host, and the rooms are decent, safe, and paired with a wonderful pool. There's always plenty of ice for coolers. Bring your own towels, since the ones in the bathroom are very small. The price is right, and it's a good value.

The room was so cramped that the bed nearly blocked the bathroom door, leaving only two or three inches to open it. It looked like it hadn't been updated in ages, and there was a moldy smell when we first walked in. Some areas looked dusty, the sheets had a funky smell, and the walls were so thin we could easily hear someone talking next door. The toilet seat didn't even fit the toilet, and they supplied just one small bottle of soap, not enough for one person. Parking was okay, and the location was within reach of the main attractions. There seemed to be only two housekeepers and one manager at times. The old shower took a while to figure out, and getting the water temperature comfortable was a challenge. The AC was the only thing that made the night bearable. This is a 'meh' place to sleep at best. I would not recommend it.
