We visited in winter, and the room was warm with an amazing lake view. There’s no housekeeping service, but we were fine reusing towels. The wooden walls between hotel rooms let you hear everything the people next door say. Even with that, I’d definitely recommend a winter stay.

We came during the off season, and Lake George was a nice place for a family or group stay. There’s lots to do nearby, and it should get busy once the weather warms up around Memorial Day weekend. We visited Fort William Henry, Ausible Chasm, and a wine tasting place about 3 miles down the road. I recommend the first two. Lake George itself is pretty big, and there are plenty of motels around. At the resort, I noticed a playground, a small private beach, a bar and restaurant, a gym, an indoor pool section and a larger outdoor one, a game room, and basketball and volleyball courts. There may be more I didn’t see. Our lodge had a hot tub in the master bedroom, a private bathroom, a smaller bedroom with bunk beds, and a pull-out couch. The beach is about 300 feet long, with a grill there and more grilling setups around the playground. There’s also a campfire beside the bar and restaurant. The resort is on a mountain beside the lake, so the roads go up and down. Each lodge has its own parking, with visitor parking nearby, and there’s a deck outside each unit to hang out on. 👍 👍

The hot tubs can be hit or miss, but that hasn’t taken away from our great stays here. We love The Lodges at Cresthaven as a home away from home. The lodges are spacious and clean, with beautiful kitchens and bathrooms, and the gym, beach, and entertainment rooms all make the experience better.

The lodges look beautiful inside, but the bedrooms were especially dark because the lighting wasn’t adequate. That didn’t matter too much since we weren’t spending our days indoors. Getting around was a bit of a workout, though. The terrain is very steep and winding, and it’s a decent walk to the pool and beach. The pool is nice, but I can’t picture more than five to eight people fitting comfortably. The beach is small and rocky, so it’s not a place for sandcastles or much time in the sand. The swimming section is roped off about 20 feet from shore and is probably no more than 50 feet wide. We were disappointed to find out that kayaking and paddle boarding stop at 3 p.m., since our group got to the beach at 4. There aren’t any signs, and we wandered around for a while trying to find someone who could tell us where to get paddles or Kara. They weren’t on the beach where the kayaks and paddle boards are kept.

The landscaping is spectacular, with gorgeous flowers, and we absolutely loved our two-bedroom place by the lake. We’ve stayed in many places, and this is a wonderful one. This was our second visit to The Lodges at Cresthaven, June 15-20, 2025. The location is excellent, and the top rooms have what must be a million-dollar view. Whenever anything came up, a text to the front desk usually got it taken care of within 10 minutes. We’re looking forward to coming back next year.
