Quality Inn Pocono Resort

The room wasn’t ready when we arrived around 6 p.m. after a long, rainy day. We were told the hotel was busy and running behind on cleaning. Then we learned the restaurant was closed, so we had to find someone to deliver food and didn’t eat until 8:30. We wanted a decent meal, a bed, and breakfast for my disabled husband and me. There were several bad stains on the quilt when we pulled back the covers. The front desk said they’d see if someone could replace it. The shower worked well, but there were wet marks on the ceiling, and the towel rack was barely attached. Breakfast was fake eggs. We would’ve left, but the race meant there was nowhere else to go.

The room had a bunch of problems: the free wifi never worked, even after the desk clerk rebooted it twice, rain came through the window and soaked the carpet and an electrical outlet, and the shower head nearly came out of the wall. There was no mini fridge, just an empty spot where it belonged, and no chair at the desk. The pool was closed the whole time and looked like pea soup. Breakfast was awful too. The area was dirty, the garbage overflowed, and they served greasy sausage patties on a tiny dessert plate with a small plastic fork too weak to cut the meat. Staff seemed not to care. I can’t see this place staying open long if they keep neglecting it.

Patty the bartender was very nice and efficient, and the pool looked busy. The hot water worked when we checked in, but it was shut off in the morning. The unlit Quality Inn sign made the place hard to find. We checked in late afternoon on 9/6/15, after being told the hot water wasn’t working properly. Dammy at the front desk said he’d left a voicemail the previous evening, but I hadn’t checked it. My son and I said we’d take the room anyway. Inside, the yellow toilet bowl was clearly uncleaned, the window had a black sticky substance on it and looked as if someone had poured milk down it, and the room phone didn’t work. I was told that was the phone company’s problem. I asked for another room, but was told none were available. I was told management was responsible for the problems. I believe rooms were available, but since I’d booked online at a lower rate, Quality Inn Lake Harmony didn’t want me staying there because they could rent the room for more. Thank you very much.

The rooms were worn, though fairly clean, and the roof above the pool leaked badly. The bar was terribly uncomfortable because it had no air circulation. Room service seemed to come in at any hour. Someone ahead of me at checkout said they’d entered at 1:30 a.m. without knocking. Staff were slow and seemed unconcerned. I wouldn’t recommend staying here without major renovations unless you have no other choice.
