Lake Norman Hotel

A last-minute trip brought us to this motel near our destination, and we were impressed. It was clean, comfortable, stocked with what we needed, and affordable for three adults. The staff were welcoming and really friendly. I’ve already told our local friends and family to send people here. After the first night, my husband woke up saying he couldn’t believe how much he liked a little roadside motel. Five stars in every category.

We’ve brought our boat here three times now, and keep coming back for the great staff and laid-back island feel. It’s a small motel, maybe 14 rooms, with clean, nicely renovated rooms, a boat ramp, trailer parking, and a restaurant with good food. Nothing fancy like the Ritz, but it has great amenities. We like staying on the lake side since the road side can get a little noisy, though it didn’t bother our group. Looking forward to coming back!

For the price, having the lake right there made this a really great stay. The freshly redecorated rooms were clean and comfortable, and the ones at the back of the updated motel look over a narrow part of the lake. Each room opens onto a shared covered porch, with its own picnic table and Adirondack chairs by the water and docks. It has a very social feel. We rented a boat for a couple of hours. Sadly, the restaurant was closed, so we didn’t get to try it. It also overlooks the docks.

We’ve found our new place to stay when we’re in the area. It’s charming, cozy, updated, and has a really relaxed vibe. Everyone greeted us warmly, and the room had all the comfort basics, including a mini fridge, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker. We had a nice meal downstairs at the restaurant/lounge, looking out over the lake. They also have boat and kayak rentals on the property, plus a snowcone store if that’s your thing. In the morning, we took coffee out to the shaded deck, where there are picnic tables and Adirondack chairs. Very peaceful, with the lake view and birdsong. Loved it.
