I keep coming back to this Best Western. The rooms feel relaxing, with clean modern decor, handy cubbies, good lighting, nice furniture, and a nice TV. For the price, having heating and AC, a mini fridge, and coffee available around the clock or in the room feels pampering. There’s also a pool and hot tub, a fitness room, and a decent breakfast in a relaxing space.
There’s plenty of parking, and a very good Mexican restaurant right next door. The hotel is also handy for the I-5, with a gas station beside it and other restaurants close by. We stayed six days and really liked it. Our spacious room had a couch and coffee table facing the TV. Staff weren’t especially friendly, but they were attentive and did their jobs well. There’s just one washer and one dryer for hotel laundry. When we needed quarters, a staff member took us to the laundry room and emptied the machine’s coin box to make change. I’d highly recommend the hotel.
I stayed the night of 9/19/25, and the way I was treated was unpleasant. At 9:30 pm, I got to my room and found the TV wasn’t working. The front desk told me to wait 10 minutes. More than an hour passed, so I called again and was told to wait another 10 minutes. After waiting 30 more minutes, I went downstairs and spoke with the person who took my reservation. He said all the TVs had the same problem, which didn’t seem true since I could hear TVs on in the hallways. He also said there were no other rooms because the hotel was full, which upset me. Why rent rooms if something in them isn’t working? They made time to rent everything out, but not to change my room. This place seemed to care only about customers’ money and not their comfort, and didn’t provide the service it offered. The problem wasn’t just the TV, but also the unpleasant way they treated me.
Do not stay here. Two days after my stay, I was charged an extra $250 even though I didn’t damage or smoke in the room. My original $100 was released, then I was charged $250 on Tuesday morning after leaving Saturday. I came to Portland because my daughter had surgery and stayed here for two nights, since our usual Best Western was closed for remodeling and this one was easy to reach from the freeway on the way to the hospital. The renovated rooms were very nice, and we didn’t mind the freeway noise, but the problems started after our first night. Housekeeping apparently thought we had checked out and threw away the food and drinks we’d just bought from their expensive market, along with little things we left behind at the hospital. They also took all the money and change in the room. It wasn’t much, but it was more than I’d leave as a tip. When I reported it, the woman at the desk seemed apologetic, then disappeared for the rest of the night and never followed up about her investigation. I figured I’d sort it out at checkout. The next morning at 8 am, after a long night up and down with my uncomfortable child after surgery, housekeeping came into our room without knocking or saying who they were. The blond man at the front desk didn’t seem to care and made excuses for taking my money, saying “most people tip for daily service” and “I’ll let housekeeping know.” There was no apology or smile. When I said an apology would go a long way, he ignored me as if I were bothering him. I was a GM for another national chain for 10 years. They had rules about money left in occupied rooms and about housekeeping knocking and announcing themselves for safety and security. I don’t know why this hotel doesn’t, since he told me “hotels all have different policies,” as if it were my fault I didn’t know they’d take money from the room and walk in while we were sleeping. Guest safety and belongings should be standard concerns. UPDATE: The GM contacted me and blamed me, saying I had checked out after the first night because I accidentally left my keys in the room and took most of my things with me because I didn’t know if we’d be staying at the hospital. I never told them I was checking out. He actually said I should have told them I was still staying in the room, even though I was charged for two nights and a $100 deposit at check-in. He was very rude, talked over me, and didn’t listen. He said they threw out the drinks and snacks I’d just bought from their market six hours earlier because they were spoiled. Customer service was horrible all around. I worked in this industry for 10 years, and if they can’t at least assure guests and their belongings are safe during the stay they contracted and paid for, that’s a serious failure. You sign a contract at check-in, and they charge your card for rules they expect you to follow. But they can’t hold up their side of it. This place acts entitled to your money, whether it’s for the night or cash you happen to leave on the counter while you step out. Save your time and money. Don’t stay here.
The rooms looked nice and modern, but the smell in ours was unbearable. I’m confident something had died in there, and it just kept getting worse. The hot tub was lukewarm the first night, then broken the next. The coffee station looked stocked but stayed empty for our entire three-day stay. My husband and I both drink a lot of coffee, so we checked often and never found a fresh pot. I also wish the guy at the front desk had been friendlier. That set a negative tone for the whole visit. Sometimes it’s okay to admit things fell short instead of insisting everything was fine.
