SpringHill Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan Times Square

The staff we met were all very friendly, and breakfast was really good, though the room gets crowded. Go early if you want to be sure of a seat. The rooms are quite small, but the location is great. Our first room's AC wasn't working, so they moved us. The AC in the second room was out too. To be fair, they tried to fix it in the first room and were happy to move us. We were exhausted and just wanted to sleep, so we opened the window. It was February and freezing outside, and that quickly cooled the room from 75 degrees. The AC in the second room started working the next morning after breakfast.

We appreciated the hotel's location and the welcome drinks at check-in. The beds were very comfortable, and the breakfast selection was good, though the dining area felt small and cramped. The coffee was cold on both the first and second day, and staff couldn't understand simple English. The rooms were extremely small, with less than a foot between the wall and the bed and the side window. There was nowhere to store clothes or luggage. In the small bathroom, the toilet is right behind the door, so you have to squeeze around it to sit down. On one or two occasions, the shower took a good five minutes to get hot. We'd requested early check-in in advance through the Bonvoy app, and the room was available, but one front desk staff member still said we couldn't check in before the official time. That made for a very unpleasant experience.

The front desk was helpful when weather cancelled my flight home and extended my stay by a night. I'd definitely come back on my next NYC visit. The hotel is right in the theater district, which made it easy to get to Broadway shows. No show was more than two streets away. It's across from the Marriott Marquis and half an Avenue from Times Square. My room wasn't large, but it was a decent size for New York. The shower had a full tub's length, so there was plenty of space. I also liked having free breakfast, plus a refrigerator and microwave in the room.

The location is amazing if you're making a quick stay, and the beer tasting was nice. Mustapha, if I have his name right, was very helpful and got us a new room straight away after the first one was awful. The bathroom in that first room hadn't been cleaned: there was public hair and piss on the toilet seat. They sent a cleaner quickly, but the bed was uncomfortable and a bit dirty too. Breakfast was really bad, with only the orange juice being any good. The place was okay, but I wouldn't stay again.
