Homewood Suites by Hilton Ronkonkoma

The first room we got around 9 p.m. had hairs on the bed, sheets, and pillow, plus an open used soap sitting in water by the sink, garbage in the bin, and more hair on the sink. There was also a faint marijuana smell. The desk changed our room, but the second one smelled strongly of wet dog. It still had hair on the bed and sheets, stains on the floor that looked like spilled coffee or soda, and dirt and stains around the base of the toilet. We even found a charger someone had left on the desk. It really makes me question how well the hotel is cleaned. We were visiting my parents, who recently moved to the south shore, and this was our first trip to see them. I expected more from a Hilton charging almost $300 a night. When I checked out the next morning, I told Kevin at the front desk about everything. He said they couldn't compensate or reimburse me, but offered Hilton Honors points after I mentioned my membership. Two days later, I still hadn't received any. I told two front desk employees what had happened and neither apologized. That felt very unprofessional. I'll be visiting the area more now that my parents live nearby, but I'm definitely considering staying somewhere else, even if it costs a little more. I'd recommend other people in the area do the same.

The staff are what make this hotel stand out. Everyone I met was friendly, helpful, and professional, especially at reception. It's a beautiful hotel too. I've stayed at other places in the area, but this is the one I'll come back to.

I booked this hotel on January 11th 2026 to see my boyfriend before heading back to college. He's 22 and offered to check us in and pay since I'm 20. The woman at the front desk, who seemed to be the manager, was standoffish from the start. She said nobody under 21 could be in the room because of company policy, even though my boyfriend was the one checking us in. Then she questioned his bank, Jovia, which is very popular in the area, and asked what we were doing at the hotel. When he said we were chilling and hanging out before I went back to college, she replied, “yeah I know what you people do.” That comment should have set off alarm bells for me. She then said we couldn't check in because I wasn't over 21, even though families with children had walked right in, so it clearly wasn't a 21-and-over hotel. She said she'd texted the other manager and that it was policy, then added, “I don’t feel comfortable moving forward with this check in.” When I asked for a manager, she said she was the manager on duty and had worked there for 20 years. I'm disgusted by the open homophobia in 2026. Please do better, Hilton.

We checked in at 10 p.m. and found no blanket or pillows for the pullout bed. The clerk was rude, and after 15 minutes without the bedding, I had to go down to get it myself. In the morning there was no shampoo or conditioner, and the toilet seat won't stay up. This place is trash.
