It felt like a scam. We waited for hours with nobody there to check us in. Eventually someone let my daughter and me into a room, but we weren’t given keys. We were told there were no keys and that someone would let us in if we needed. The hotel and room smelled strongly of cat urine and mold, and the place was dirty, with trash everywhere. It didn’t look sanitary, and we didn’t feel safe. I left with my daughter without ever going into the room that had no keys, and we didn’t get our money back.
We booked using a T-Mobile discount, but at check-in they sent us to a smaller room without telling us it wasn’t the one we’d reserved. When we went back down to ask, the receptionist simply said they didn’t have our room. Nobody offered to adjust the price. Since it was non-refundable, it felt like they’d basically taken $30 from us. That alone wouldn’t have been such a big deal if the room hadn’t been so disgusting. I was surprised I didn’t see any bugs, though maybe even they wouldn’t go in there. The pictures show mold pretty much everywhere, continued water damage on the walls, a broken mattress, and the worst stains I’ve ever seen on hotel furniture. I refused to walk on the carpet because it was somehow both crunchy and sticky. We also paid $9 for “amenities,” which included completely unsecured internet that was too slow to use and the ability to park ourselves. This place needs to be reported and shut down until guests stop being put in such unsanitary rooms and essentially charged unfairly.
My room on the 5th floor was great. The place had reopened under a new owner, and they seemed to be trying their best to maintain it. I don’t blame the owner or workers. The first person they let work the front desk made things hard for the owner, and some of the people they housed made it hard for staff too. Grown people couldn’t clean up after themselves and turned the place into a garage dump. The few workers tried to keep it clean and livable, but people made that difficult, and there was a lot of foul play going on. I pray they reopen and that good things happen for them.
There was no one at the front desk, which felt like a complete lack of service, and the whole hotel reeked of smoke. During my stay, somebody downstairs pulled the alarm because their dog was having an issue. I woke up to it and had no idea what was happening, so I panicked while going downstairs with everyone else to evacuate. It’s an unpleasant place to stay, and I strongly wouldn’t recommend it.
The room had so much mold that you could smell it, and the hotel was awful. The woman who checked us in was sweet, but said they were out of rooms, so I couldn’t even complain and ask for another one. She had someone inspect the room before giving me the key, and apparently they thought it was acceptable. I was also told to pay a $9 cash hotel fee, which felt really shady. With the room in such bad condition, I also overpaid like crazy because of all the power outages from the hurricane. I wouldn’t recommend it. This is the worst I’ve ever seen, and it should be shut down.
