I got to my room only to find it wasn’t ready at all. There was no TV or fridge, and tools and a light fixture were sitting on the table. The room was a disaster, so I asked for my money back. The front desk guy had already kept calling to ask my ETA, offered to take me to dinner, and then took forever to check me in. After I complained, his sister offered dinner and a discount. I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels over 30 years and never had an experience this bad. I wouldn’t recommend this place even to someone tired and desperate, and I don’t think it’s safe for women traveling alone or for kids. Don’t stay here. I can’t understand how it’s still in business.

I was moving to Fort Bragg when my vehicle broke down and left me stranded in Lakeport. Rainbow Lodge was an oasis during those stressful three days. Charles in management was extremely accommodating with my three dogs and cat, and the other staff I met were helpful too. The room was clean and comfortable, and it was quiet. There was a microwave, refrigerator, and wifi in the room. The lodge is by the lake, with a chance to cross the street and enjoy the view. The Mexican restaurant next door serves great food in portions big enough for two meals. My dogs liked the atmosphere as well.

It’s an affordable, no-frills motel with kind, caring staff and long-term stays available. Pets are welcome for a small surcharge and deposit, which is hard to find. It’s near shopping and across the street from the lake. Definitely recommend.

The owners are friendly and always smiling, and the rates are decent. It’s across from the lake and close to a Mexican restaurant. They allow pets for an extra fee. Their gift shop is really nice too, with earrings and other jewelry for the ladies. Even if you aren’t staying here, stop in and have a look. I give it five stars in my opinion, though I’m not rating the amenities five stars.
