Whenever I’m in the area, the clean rooms and extremely helpful staff make this a welcome place to stay. Just remember your key when you leave, since the rooms use actual keys and you could lock yourself out. The managers live on site, but they’re real people who sleep, so don’t head out into the night without your key.

The owner was friendly and accommodating, and our room was clean and spacious for a one night stay at the Motel. It’s close to the sand dunes. The floor was uneven and the building seemed tilted, but neither bothered us or got in the way of our stay.

The motel felt like Schitt's Creek, though I’m sure their motel is better. I was grossed out as soon as I opened the door. The mildew and mold smell was overpowering, so I had to get Christmas tree air fresheners. The floor was badly uneven, the bed was loud, and I stayed in my clothes. When I tried to make coffee the next day, the cups weren’t wrapped. I got one creamer and two sugars, and another package was already open and rock hard. The signs were dirty, there were dead bugs on the curtains, and a nasty yellow liquid dripped from the ceiling. Don’t get me started on the shower. I cleaned it myself with disinfecting wipes, and they came away black. Not worth the stay or the price. The yurts down the road are $62.

For $90 after tax, I couldn’t be happier. Check-in was easy, the lady was very friendly, and this was the best night’s sleep I’ve had on a two week road trip. The dated looking bed was unbelievably comfortable, and after a chilly 12 hour motorcycle ride, I was glad to have the space heater. The motel room was charming, with a little sofa, a desk for working, a coffee maker with tea, microwave, fridge, fast enough wifi, and plenty of shower supplies. The only possible downsides were the small shower cubicle, which might feel cramped if you’re particularly “well fed,” and occasional road noise from trucks rolling down 101 all night, so bring earplugs. It was lovely in late summer and I used the heater, but in a peak summer scorcher, remember there’s no AC or fan. I’ll absolutely earmark the place for a future visit.

We had a great time and would go back. The room was comfortable and relaxing, with a nice view through the sliding glass door. The motel restaurant didn’t look busy, and I think we were the only two people there, but after the waitress took our order, the food never came. We waited an hour, then walked a little way to a sweet mom and pop cafe. I can’t remember its name, but the food was great and the service friendly. The motel restaurant was the one real letdown.
