Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Lancaster

We tried this hotel again during a work trip on 3/22/26, since we like bringing our dog along when we can. We got the same room, and this time it was much cleaner, with a remote, stocked soaps, and a hair dryer. The AC was impressively cold, better than at places we've stayed during our weekly travels around the country. The employees were kind and friendly again, and their great service was a big reason we gave the hotel another chance. They clearly took the feedback seriously and made visible improvements. We'd stay here again when work brings us back. On our first visit, the staff were pleasant and we appreciated that the hotel welcomed pets. The room was spacious, but it was visibly unclean. There were no bins, the floors hadn't been vacuumed or mopped, and the bathroom was very dirty, with blood smeared in the shower and grime on the floor and toilet. We arrived late and were only staying one night, so cleaned it ourselves. The front desk didn't answer when we called about the missing TV remote, so we went downstairs to ask for one. There was no hand soap, and the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were all empty. It seemed the room hadn't been cleaned properly in quite a while. We've seen worse, but this certainly wasn't good. I also disliked being charged for parking when the lot was nearly empty. We paid $400 for a dirty one-night stay, and planned to choose another hotel for our next work trip.

Brandie was exceptionally great, and the other staff were friendly too. I had hot showers, cold AC, and a comfortable bed, and the snacks and drinks next door were a nice way to wrap up the workday. I'd stay here again when I'm in the area. There were a few quirks: the bathroom door wouldn't latch, the fridge and microwave were unplugged when I arrived, and the hall door let in a lot of noise. Renovations are underway, so those issues may get fixed.

We needed more space while relatives were visiting, so we stayed at the Hampton Inn in the city where I live. I'm familiar with the chain, but this visit was fantastic, and my grandchildren loved it. The rooms were spacious and had everything we needed. The staff were wonderful, and the meals were lovely. Mary at the front desk was great, and Katrina in the kitchen was professional while still putting so much care into the food. It felt like food made with love in my own kitchen. Way to go, Hampton Inn.

Angie was very nice when she checked us in. The next morning, when I told her about the roaches and the toilet overflowing all over the floor after I flushed it, she said she'd tell maintenance and the manager. We killed three roaches in this so-called four-star hotel. I only had to pee, and that was bad enough. I can't imagine dealing with that for a number two. Then we had to deal with the assistant manager, Marina, who was rude and unprofessional. We called corporate and explained what happened. They spoke with her, and she said we weren't welcome back. Marge from the corporate office was professional and tried her best. She arranged a complimentary stay at another location because Marina said we couldn't return. Hilton should know what kind of employees it has. I'll never recommend this location. That's just my view. Good luck.
