Holiday Inn Express & Suites Lancaster by IHG

There was no bedding for the pull-out sofa, and when we asked, the front desk made it sound like we should feel lucky to get one blanket and pillow because they were full. A suite shouldn’t leave guests sleeping on a bare mattress without sheets. We also didn’t have enough towels, and the laundry facility on our floor was out of order. Breakfast staff acted as if having guests there was a serious inconvenience. The web listing showed photos and video of an indoor pool that doesn’t exist. I wouldn’t recommend this location.

The staff were excellent, the bathroom was great and well stocked, and breakfast was so good I’d go there just for it if I could. The biscuits and gravy and cinnamon rolls were fantastic. The pool was closed, which was inconvenient, though we didn’t have time to use it anyway. We were unexpectedly placed in a dog-friendly room at the end of a first-floor hallway, and that actually worked out well. Our infant screamed until the wee hours, so we disturbed fewer people there. The main problem was the sticky floor. It was like that at check-in and still sticky the next morning, when our clean feet turned black. I first wondered if the room’s temperature and humidity were to blame. I told management, and they worked on it while we were out. It was noticeably less sticky when we returned, but still not clean enough. That night I wet a shower towel with warm water and slid it across the floor from the bathroom to the desk and back. The towel turned black, as shown in the attached photos. Oddly, the floor felt less sticky afterward and stayed that way for the rest of our visit. The shower pan was stained, though I imagine there’s only so much that can reasonably be done.

This was a great find, and it’s dog-friendly, so I could bring my dog along. I work in Lancaster and travel from PA with an electric cart, and there aren’t many hotels with EV chargers. This is the best of the ones I’ve found: there are enough chargers that I don’t get ICE'd out, and they’re protected by a “Charging Only” sign. The rooms are spotless and nicely decorated, the beds are comfortable, and breakfast is sumptuous. The woman working at breakfast is a delight, very friendly. Even if you don’t need the chargers, it’s the best spot to stay between Logan and Columbus.

Everyone from the front desk to housekeeping was friendly and accommodating. My room was cleaned daily throughout my 10-day stay. But I can’t say enough about the complimentary breakfast. It was the best I’ve ever had, and I looked forward to it every morning.
