Motel 6-Houston, TX - Spring

The room and bed were clean and comfortable, but there were some unpleasant details. In the bathroom we found a used bar of soap and a small towel hanging from the shower rod. Bring your own soap or body wash and towel, since some of the drying towels were stained. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling, and the toilet wasn’t properly secured, so it moved when you did. The elevator smelled strongly of urine, and it was hard to hear the receptionist through the speaker, even with our ears close to it. It’s also right by traffic. Motel 6 feels like a very run-down place to stay.

I had to get a refund because it was so bad. People kept looking at my truck like they were trying to steal it, and the place didn’t feel safe. There was a weed and cigarette smell throughout the hotel, mold in the showers, and TVs that didn’t work. The photos are misleading and don’t show what it really looks like. Motel 6 has really gone downhill. I wouldn’t stay here. I have pictures and plan to contact the health department.

The rooms smell clean when you first enter, though it depends on which room you get. I usually bring cleaning supplies wherever I stay, and I had to buy some to clean this room myself, even though it wasn’t that bad. Most of the time it was acceptable, and housekeeping comes daily. They wash the towels you return instead of giving you fresh ones, and it can take all day to get them back. The rooms are nice once you’ve cleaned them. The older gentleman and the night shift woman were very kind, but the morning front desk guy was careless and rude. That made the experience worse, and I’d rather not have him speak to me if he still works there. I’d stay again if I had to.

I’ve stayed here twice. I was skeptical at first, but the room was cleaner than I expected when I checked in. The TV didn’t work on that first stay, which was fine since I was only there to sleep. I’m back in the same room tonight, and it’s still clean and now the TV works. The price is hard to beat. I wasn’t expecting a five-star hotel, but it exceeded what I had in mind. I’ll keep coming back, happy traveler here!
