Holiday Inn Express & Suites Houston North I-45 Spring by IHG

I wasn’t checking in. I’d just gotten off the bus after work and had a long walk still ahead, so I went in and asked the employee if I could use the restroom. He refused and said the only bathrooms were inside the rooms. I know that’s not true because I’ve stayed in a hotel before. I understand there’s a policy, but I told him I really couldn’t hold it any longer and he still said no. If you don’t want people coming in to ask for that, the doors should be locked and there should be a window for customers. I had to run all the way home to make it to the bathroom. I have asthma and couldn’t breathe once I finally got there.

I’m a Walmart truck driver and trainer, and tried to reserve separate rooms for me and my trainee here. I had the pleasure of dealing with “Jerry,” the manager. I asked for the Walmart rate and discount, which he clearly didn’t know about. He also said I couldn’t book by phone, although I’ve been doing that without trouble for seven years. After wasting time going back and forth, he finally made a reservation for me. Then he copied and pasted it for my trainee, changing only the name and putting the same card on file, even though I’d said the bookings were separate and the Walmart rate was a set amount per night. I checked the reviews afterward and saw the 3.9 rating, which is horrible. “Jerry” was named in all three of those complaint reviews, so I decided not to deal with it. I called back to cancel and told them his name was all over the reviews. This manager is costing the establishment business, especially with corporate companies. Hopefully they fix the problem quickly. Word will get around about the manager here. Do better!

I arrived after a rough time at the airport, and the night front desk employee, Joseph, I believe, turned my evening around. He was so kind and made sure I was taken care of. I didn’t have a single issue with my room or anything else around the building. Special thanks again to the employee who checked me in. He really looked after me.

The staff were great, and breakfast is always a plus. My room was just okay, though, and could’ve used some TLC in places. The floor on the way to it felt like it was caving in at some spots, which was strange. I was traveling alone for business and there were a lot of construction men around. I never felt threatened, but I probably would’ve picked a different location if I’d done more research on the area and hotel. Still, it was an okay two-night stay.
