Courtyard by Marriott New Carrollton

As a gold elite member and vacation club owner, I did quite a bit of research before booking, so I wanted to give that context. The hotel still fell short of what I expected. The lobby staff seemed indifferent, and the thin walls let in partying and loud music early in the morning. Outside, I saw broken-down cars, broken wine bottles, and people lingering around. The elevators were poor, and the rooms were just okay, with a drawer that kept sliding out, hair, and fit and finish problems throughout. It wasn't terrible, but I don't have a reason to come back.

The location works really well for me, across the street from Headquarters, close to Amtrak, and down the street from Royal Farms. I also like the seating in the Courtyard (actual) and the lobby, and I have a favorite room here. The staff feel familiar and down to earth. Even if something isn't on the menu, the bartender service makes up for it. Always a great experience.

Jade was delightful throughout our stay, always bringing a smile, positive energy, and genuine kindness. Bianca at the front desk also made us feel welcome, checked us in promptly, thanked us for being Marriott Bonvoy members, and helped with our requests. The staff were friendly and professional everywhere we went, from the hallways to the little breakfast bar area, and they were always willing to help. The property has been renovated and looks very nice. Our spacious room was clean, the bedding was comfortable, and it was refreshed daily. The bathroom was tidy and fresh, with excellent shower pressure. We were greeted by very friendly, helpful staff as soon as we checked in.

After being badly disappointed by another nearby hotel, I was surprised by how much the people here acknowledged and cared about me. The front desk woman helped connect my business booking to my Marriott account so I could earn points and use my phone as a room key. The lobby is really nice, with a bar and restaurant, and both the room and bathroom were nice too. The one downside is that breakfast is only available for an hour in the morning. I'd definitely come back.
