Days Inn by Wyndham Spartanburg

There was a dirty rag on the shower rod and actual spiderwebs in the window. The tub had no stopper, which was a letdown since a bath is what I look forward to at hotels, with only a shower at home. I can't say anything about the sheets because I wasn't willing to sleep under the blanket. I got a pillow and blanket from the car instead. And apparently the house cat has its own room there.

The staff treated me with respect and understood that sometimes getting the room money together takes time. They gave me extra time and worked with me so I wouldn't have to sleep on the street. They don't act like jail guards, make degrading comments, or kick you out with some made-up excuse and a call to the police. They treat everyone like human beings and know how to run a budget hotel. The rooms are priced well, and I was surprised there wasn't any noticeable drug or prostitution activity, despite what you might expect. I'll definitely stay again whenever I need a hotel.

The room was secluded, and I had no trouble during our stay. For the area and price, it was actually nice. We'd read about the cats beforehand and saw two, but neither approached or bothered us. There were plenty of cats within about a two-mile radius, so I don't think this hotel is the only place feeding them. We were there for a softball tournament and didn't use the breakfast or pool, so I can't comment on those.

The walls are thin enough that you can hear everything, and there was nobody at the desk when we went to check out. Breakfast was hardly there, just waffles, milk, and toast. Housekeeping kept knocking all morning until we left at the 11 o'clock checkout. I wouldn't recommend it.
