Motel 6 Lansing, IL - Chicago South

We left as soon as we found a roach in a can of sparkling water I’d left on the end table overnight. My partner has a severe roach allergy and was already swelling, though we hadn’t realized why. The room had been filthy from the start: grime on the walls, stained pillowcases, burn holes in the sheets and blankets, and a mattress cover that looked long past replacement. I saw housekeeping pour cleaner on the floor and mop it up. There were only two people cleaning the motel, so I knew the job might not be perfect, but this needed far more attention. Getting clean bedding was another ordeal. We waited from 5 AM until 1 PM and sat on towels for eight hours. At the desk around 5, the male receptionist ignored me for two minutes while he focused on getting a woman’s phone number. He was rude when I asked about housekeeping and acted as if I were bothering him. The woman he was talking to then became angry enough to say she wanted to fight me. I’d stayed calm and hadn’t raised my voice; when he pointed out her aggression, she said she was only playing. I was afraid for my safety. Later, a female clerk was kinder and explained where to leave the dirty linens and towels for pickup, and that housekeeping would bring replacements. They claimed to have a mini fridge and coffee maker, but those basic amenities were missing. Between that, the roaches, poor upkeep, and rude service, I felt the place was a health and safety risk. I’ve never stayed anywhere this dirty, and we packed up and fled.
