Pine Lake Resort and Banquets

The front desk man was very kind, but we ended up driving home to Chicago instead of spending the night we had paid for. We just didn't feel comfortable staying there with our kids. We tried to give the hotel a chance, but the building seemed to be falling apart and had a strange stale smell throughout. It looked to us like the owners had recently bought a foreclosed hotel and opened before sorting out the problems. They're trying to make it acceptable, but I think they should close until basic repairs are done. The reality of the place should be disclosed.

The room was a good deal, with a comfortable bed and more storage than I usually find in a hotel. It wasn't dirty, just an unusual place. The wide hallway outside the rooms has a table and two chairs where you can sit and look out at other guests and the empty indoor courtyard. There's also an exercise room, and everything in it worked. I'm not sure if they're slowly renovating or if it's simply an older hotel. The open central area is confusing, and the smell of old indoor smoking still hangs around. The pool is both indoor and outdoor. I imagine it was a very nice hotel when it was new, and I'm curious to see if they can bring it back.

The indoor pool and sauna were great, and the rooms were incredible for the price. Honestly, this is one of the best places I've ever stayed. I'd definitely recommend it.

The room was decent, but the breakfast was nothing special and the carpet in the breakfast room was disgustingly dirty. I was sick and asked if I could check out just an hour or less late. They wanted another $40, even when I asked for only twenty minutes. Most hotels will let you have a little extra time. I travel this way regularly, but after that, I won't stay here again.
