Susan at breakfast was magnificent: very friendly and informative, and she kept the food stocked and presented nicely. Check-in was pleasant too. It's a slightly older place, but clean and well maintained, with comfortable beds. A nice stop if you're passing through.
Breakfast was actually good, one of the few positives, and a woman I called afterward was friendly and helpful. She gave me excellent service, easily a 5-star interaction. I don't remember her name. My stay the next night at a brand new SpringHill Suites (Marriott) cost less and came with a king suite that was far better in every way. The room here felt dingy, the beds were small, and the price was far too high for the quality. I had arrived around 2:00 AM after a full day of travel, exhausted and hoping for a smooth check-in and some rest. No one was at the desk at first. After a few minutes, Nicholas Henry came out. I greeted him and got no response. He said there were a few double rooms left at $139 before taxes and fees. When I politely asked about a late-night discount, he bluntly said no. He didn't engage when I tried making small talk. When I said it seemed crazy that double rooms still cost that much so late, he told me “there’s a hotel right across the street,” essentially suggesting I leave. That was shocking and unprofessional. I stayed and checked in, but when I mentioned the lack of customer service, he got defensive. He said he didn't appreciate being called “crazy for not offering a discount”. I explained I wasn't calling HIM crazy. I asked for a manager, and he said he was the only one there. I told him I'd review his customer service, and he replied, “Go ahead, I have great reviews.” So here I am. Nicholas Henry was still at the desk when I left the next morning, so I avoided checking out in person to avoid another uncomfortable interaction. At check-in, he hadn't asked for my Bonvoy membership, phone number, or email, so the stay wasn't linked to my account and I didn't get points or a receipt. I called later and had a completely different experience with a woman whose name I unfortunately don't recall. Between the service and the disappointing room, this was one of my worst hotel check-ins. I wouldn't recommend staying here.
We had a large parking space for our moving truck and trailer, and our dog wasn't bothered by hallway noise since we couldn't hear people, only the elevator ding. There were lots of bedroom outlets, ad-free HBO Max, a nice breakfast, good front desk service, tiled bathroom, nice carpet, and plenty of counter space in the bathroom. The double queen room felt tight when two people were moving around, and the TV could be bigger. We were right by the elevator, so we heard the ding all night, though it wasn't too loud. The window unit periodically blew frigid air even though it was set to heat. The front desk changed the settings and it went back to normal, perhaps it was an ECO setting. I didn't like paying $30/per, though I understand it's needed.
We arrived late during the winter storm, and the overnight employee was extremely rude and condescending. I've stayed at Marriott most of my life and never met anyone so disrespectful. The elevator was broken, yet she put my 70 year old mother on the 3rd floor and seemed surprised we wanted a discount or something for that. Every question got the same answer: her system was too old to do anything. That included pulling up my member number, even though I booked on the app, or checking for a lower room for my mom.
This hotel feels dated, with cramped rooms and basic cable. They advertised room service every other day, but I didn't get it. Breakfast wasn't appealing at all. You know those wet scrambled eggs? That's what they served every morning.
