Travelodge by Wyndham Laramie

I planned to spend the weekend here, but first asked to see my room and walked through the building. The place is in severe disrepair: holes in the walls, stained carpets, dirt and other gross-looking stuff on the floor by the door, and an awful smell. The room doors and locks were broken, and the repairs looked so incomplete that they could fail again easily. I wouldn't feel safe sleeping there. Wyndam normally has standards, but this establishment doesn't come close to any reasonable one.

This was absolutely filthy, even by my fairly tolerant standards for mediocre hotels. The bathroom fan didn't work, and the room phone was just a prop. The microwave was gross, spills were still there, and the sink was covered with the previous guest's beard trimmings. One set of sheets hadn't been changed. The baseboard heaters were dusty and falling apart, and every wall had stains or poor patchwork. Basic cleaning clearly hadn't been done before I checked in.

The room was dirty, with hair on the floor, and the stained bathtub was unpleasant to look at. The TV setup was dated enough that we had to read instructions to use the two remotes. Outside, the drive roof had been hit and was boarded up, while the lobby looked forgotten for decades. The parking lot has large potholes, so watch where you drive. Price was the only good thing about this dump. It needs a lot of money spent on it before it reaches a standard worth enjoying, and I wouldn't recommend it.

The receptionist picked up that I was slightly handicapped and gave me a room near the door without waiting for me to ask. She was also really helpful with local directions so I could bypass the snow on the freeway and get back on my trip sooner. Nothing fancy, but the place was clean, neat, and tidy.
