Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Laredo

My husband has been staying here for a month for work and has always paid his bill. I was visiting from out of town, and after I went out on foot, staff wouldn’t let me back into the room, even though I explained he’d be back after work to pay the weekly rate. We’re visitors, I had no transportation, and I wasn’t going to skip out on the bill. I offered to let them charge the card and showed my license to prove I’m his wife and give consent, but they said they couldn’t use the information they had. They kept our clothes and expensive belongings in the room while I waited in the lobby for hours. I also had store-bought things with me. Did I look like I was running off or stealing? Their first explanation was that the room was in his name. Then they said I could get back in if I paid out of pocket, even though I only had my daughter’s government debit card. So much for the name being the issue. They couldn’t wait for him to finish work, despite him having stayed a month and having no reason to leave without paying. Later he called and they charged half the bill over the phone, and his nephew came in to pay the rest. The woman at the counter had said he had to be there in person, so she’d lied about that. They left me sitting in the lobby all afternoon instead of listening or showing any patience. The last hotel we used was cheap, but its staff had more common sense than these three people, including the manager. She didn’t introduce herself or come talk to me face to face, and walked away while I was still trying to speak with her. She looked away as I explained, like she wasn’t listening. They let us pay half and still treated me like a bum. I won’t spend another penny here, though we were meant to stay another month. I called the 100-number to complain and am giving it a few days. This was the worst place I’ve visited. I’d been enjoying my birthday with my daughter until this happened. Thanks, DaysInn employees, for making our visit “superb,” as you put it. The free night is nice, but I’d appreciate an apology even more, especially from the manager.
