The only person who made us feel welcome was the hostess at the front who seated us before we went to the bar. The rest of the staff we encountered were rude and unprofessional. We came with a family member who asked for a room next to mine so the kids could enjoy the pool, as they’d requested. A staff member got smart with him and said, “this is gonna be fun.” What was that supposed to mean? The front desk staff had bad attitudes, especially the tall, slender man. The other desk staff working on 3/7 around 6:00 PM were unpleasant too. At the bar, the bartender, a woman with locs, was rude and cold. When we tried to order, she walked away without saying she’d be right back, then returned with an attitude. We stayed for only one drink because the interaction was so uncomfortable. Customer service should matter in hospitality, but we didn’t feel wanted here. I won’t return. Train the staff better.

Free parking was a plus, and the hotel itself was clean, but several maintenance problems were apparent. We were assigned room 423, where the bathroom’s double outlet was damaged and didn’t work. I reported it to the front desk, but it wasn’t fixed. There was no way to use a hair dryer, razor, or electric toothbrush. The damage didn’t look new, so I assume housekeeping had seen it. Some other maintenance issues seemed to have been covered with paint or caulk, or left as they were. We used the decent workout room on two of our four days, and the pool was open though we didn’t go in. At arrival, the key didn’t work, and we waited 10-15 minutes for friendly maintenance staff to update the keypad. The chocolate cookies weren’t ready; we were told they were cooking, but never got any. On Dec 28-Jan 1, a large group of younger people staying in a room yelled, fought, and ran up and down the halls on the night of the 31st. I called the front desk, but don’t know what they did. We booked through a travel partner and I hadn’t checked carefully, since I didn’t expect a hotel like this to be in that group’s inventory. The $86/a night price I see for January makes sense for what you get. At $150 in May, I’d think twice.

The staff are consistently helpful, but the card reader or key card still sometimes fails. I overheard someone else having the same problem. It also seems housekeeping doesn’t change the sheets when you stay in the same room on consecutive nights. These issues keep going unaddressed. My earlier stays were better, which is the only reason I’ve rated it decently. Please take care of the hotel the way you used to. Thank you.

We had a great time at the hotel bar, with 22 of us there, and the drink prices were very fair. I didn’t eat breakfast, though it looked nice. The hotel itself was nice too. I wish there were more shuttles to local services, especially to connect guests with the mass transit system just a mile and a half away and access to everything Washington has to offer. There are plenty of good places to eat nearby if you don’t mind walking.

On Super Bowl Sunday, the hotel had a major disaster. The fire alarms kept going off, and sprinklers flooded parts of the building. The General Manager said we’d be compensated for only one night, but the hotel still smells musty and now only one elevator works. This place is a dumpster. There are two better hotels right next door, and I’d never recommend this one.
