The last time I stayed, it was awful. The rooms smelled and weren’t being maintained, there was barely any water, and the heater didn’t work. There was also a lot of unusual traffic in and out of rooms and hallways at night, so I wouldn’t call it a good choice for families with children. Abandoned, wrecked vehicles were left in the parking lot. Years ago, it was an average place to get some rest and a warm shower. It was clean then, and the listed amenities were available. The owners have let it deteriorate since. A few weeks ago, it looked like the place had shut down over unsafe health hazards. For now, it’s closed due to health code violations, and probably more. I hope someone takes it over and brings it back to the hotel it used to be.

We’d already been driving for 15 hours, but after seeing the fleas jumping around under sheets with several cigarette burns, we got right back in the car. We’d paid at the front desk just five minutes earlier, and they wouldn’t refund us. The whole place smelled strongly of cigarettes, and everything looked run down and dirty, from the furniture and carpets to the lamps and bathroom. I didn’t look any further, but I’m sure the problems didn’t stop there. I’m not sure whether this used to be the America’s Best Value. Either way, it felt like a real health hazard and shouldn’t be in business. Please avoid it.

The manager was nice when we checked in after 11pm, and finding the place was easy. If you only need a bed for the night, I’d say it’s better than a Motel 6. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and the room itself was okay, though it felt dirty. I understand there’s new management, and I hope they can make some much needed renovations. The building’s interior had an ominous smell, and the hall was extremely warm. It had been almost 100 outside that day, and stepping outdoors was cooler than being inside. The room took all night to cool down because the AC hadn’t been running in some time. The TV was tiny, probably no bigger than 23", and most channels had video problems like an old antenna feed from 1980. The pool didn’t look like it had been serviced in a long time. There was an attached restaurant, but no restaurant staff, and they did have a Continental breakfast. At first glance, the place has a nice rustic feel.

We stayed the weekend of 12/10/21-12/11/2021. The room was clean, which was its only positive. There was no hot water at all. I ran the shower for 10 minutes and the water got colder. My son tried for 15 minutes, thinking the heater might be far away, but it stayed cold. The bathroom outlet didn’t work, even after I tried tripping and resetting the GFI. The only working outlet was behind the nightstand, hard to reach for the coffee pot, and it wasn’t screwed into the box. It sparked enough to put on quite a light show. The radiator had just two settings, off and HOT, no matter how low I set the temperature. Also, one tile was missing from the shower stall, and several others looked ready to fall into the bathtub. My two cents: find somewhere else to stay.

The service was great, and the front desk manager had some witty banter. My room was a little dated but clean, and the bed was comfortable. I missed the chance to eat at the on-site restaurant since it had closed at 9 just before I arrived. Still, I enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay there again.
