Staybridge Suites Las Cruces by IHG

Precious, the Assistant General Manager, was kind and efficient when we arrived, and she did everything she could once we found our suite didn’t have the walk-in showers we’d been promised. I’d called four to six times before our Thanksgiving visit with my family, and two different employees assured me the two-bedroom suite we booked would have roll-in or walk-in showers. There was no other room available, but Precious comped one night, which I appreciated. Without her hospitality, I would have checked out the next morning after being treated so rudely. Most of the staff were professional and pleasant, but the next morning one front desk employee, McKayla, responded rudely and dismissively when I asked if she knew Precious had comped the night because of the shower misinformation. I think McKayla would benefit from more customer-service training; her attitude was inappropriate and unprofessional. This stay over Thanksgiving was very different from my previous visit in June. There were cleanliness problems as well. I found hair in the utensil drawer, the floors between the bed and wall didn’t look vacuumed, and two beds had visible stains. The room with two queen beds smelled slightly of urine. Housekeeping was also playing loud music in the room where they wash and dry clothes.

I’ve stayed here every time I’ve gone to White Sands. The staff are amazing, and there’s easy access to restaurants, I25, and Highway 70, plus plenty of parking. The rooms are very serviceable for what I need, and I like having a full-sized fridge and the other kitchenette items. My only wish is that the rooms were updated, though I can’t really complain.

We had a nice stay for a week of business. The room was small, but still nice, and the whole staff was friendly and polite. Breakfast is served daily, with fresh fruit that was delicious. I especially loved the strawberries! There’s a small dinner Monday to Wednesday, and guests can use the free washer and dryer. They’re pet friendly too, so I could bring my little service dog everywhere. When we were tired and hungry, Peter Piper Pizza in the parking lot made lunch or dinner quick and easy. There’s also an IHOP if you’d rather sit down for a meal. After dark, the city lights make a beautiful view from the hotel. All in all, this worked great for us, and I’d recommend it.

The TV is my one real gripe. Most hotels have the same problem: their entertainment options are awful and hard to use. They should let you cast or log into your own Netflix. The rooms were nice and clean, the staff were pleasant, and there was hot water, a pool, and a hot tub. Breakfast wasn’t great, but it was free and included with the meal. That said, I’d definitely stay here again.
