Main Street Station Hotel, Casino and Brewery

I booked online without any trouble, and the check-in staff were friendly. Really, everyone smiled. The room was clean and tidy, and the shower felt great after a drive. It's a good hotel in the Downtown area, and a nice place to sleep and spend your time. My main complaint is the resort fee. If Vegas wants to stop the drop in tourist visits, it should lower or get rid of that fee, and offer free parking. Main Street includes parking in its fee, while other hotels don't.

The noise is why I can't give this charming hotel five stars. Our room seemed to be right by the freeway or train tracks, depending on the time of day, and the traffic noise was constant and overwhelming. If you like that kind of sound, ask for a room facing the freeway. The person at the front desk said at checkout to request one away from the freeway when booking if you'd rather have some peace. Despite that, I enjoyed the overnight stay and would return if I could get a better room location. The hotel was easy to find, check-in was simple, and parking was moderately convenient, with the bonus of being in the garage. The front desk staff were very polite and accommodating. I loved the decor and took lots of photos. The room was lovely, with beautiful appointments and a very comfortable bed. They have a breakfast buffet that looked extensive and tasty, though we ate elsewhere. A bridge leads to The California, where there are more dining and treat options.

The location was excellent for walking to Fremont Street and other spots. The outlet mall was about a 20-minute walk, and 7-Eleven around five minutes away. Staff were attentive and friendly throughout. The major issue for us was the room's cleanliness. It was dirty when we arrived, with a cotton swab and other things left in the mini-fridge. We asked for it to be cleaned; they took out the swab but left the other items and also removed our beers, even though we'd said only the food and bag that weren't ours should go. That cleanliness problem matters a lot to us.

The hotel suited our plans well. Our room was clean and the common areas were okay, though there were no coffee-making facilities in the room. If you're up early, the only coffee available is at the Boars Head, and it's small and not very good. We had a good stay overall, with no real complaints. There was a power outage after a storm, and you have to ask to use the stairs. On the plus side, being on the 12th floor gave me a good workout.
