The room had a leaking shower head, gross and torn carpets, dated decor, peeling walls, and a roof that felt dirty when I walked in. The rio may have been a 4 star hotel once, but it isn't now. I hear someone recently bought it from Cesar’s, and I wish them luck with the turnaround. I'll stop by in a year or two to see if it's improved, but for now I left with a sour taste.

The rooms have plenty of space, but feel outdated. I waited 40 minutes to check out because only 1 of the 4 elevators was operating. The pools were closed for the season, which makes sense, but that wasn't advertised, so I don't understand why they still charge a resort fee.

The mass grade tower is the older one and hasn't been renovated as well as the alternate tower. Still, parking is free, right nearby, and it's easy to go back and forth to your room. It's a bargain, easy to get to, and never too crowded. There are also several restaurants, and the area is often set up for watching big sporting events. It's a good option away from the strip, where you'd pay for parking and get ripped off on food.
