Rio Hotel & Casino A Destination By Hyatt Hotel

Free parking was a plus, but the $100 per night security fee seemed high. We came for a concert, and the Rio worked for that since we weren’t looking to stay directly on the Strip. Afterward, before midnight, the food hall was already closed. Only one chicken place was still open, charging $13 for 3 chicken tenders with different toppings. When we pulled out the sofa bed, there was an unopened can of Red Bull and an opened pack of gum, so it clearly hadn’t been checked. We also had to call housekeeping twice, both times through AI, then wait over an hour for two blankets and towels. I know it’s a big hotel, but come on. The shower drained so slowly that we had to stop halfway through and let the water go down because we worried it would overflow. This wasn’t the best stay, but it wasn’t the worst either.

We stayed between Christmas and NYE with three families, using one 1br suite and two deluxe rooms. The suite gave us a big living area, a large table and chairs, and a sofa where we could gather together. Service was great, and being able to order from Starbucks and the canteen restaurants was a big perk. There were lots of reasonably priced, good quality choices. Try the new steakhouse, it’s incredible and a comparative value for that quality in Las Vegas. The gym was great too, with all new equipment, and it was quiet when I went early. The Rio is off the Strip, which helped during a crazy busy time when Strip hotels were packed. Even though I believe the remodeled rooms were sold out, the Rio never felt packed. We’d stayed at Bellagio just before this, and although it was nice, I’d pick the Rio next time. It wasn’t far from the Strip, and our huge suite cost 1/3 the price of a standard room there. Even with $20 parking when visiting Strip hotels, the Rio is a great value. My only gripe was checkout. Between 10-11, getting an elevator was very difficult because several were out of commission. I believe they’re improving the elevators, so hopefully that gets resolved in the future.

The room was very cheap midweek and felt like great value for the money. It was huge and updated, but didn’t seem to be regularly maintained. The bathroom light switch didn’t work, so I had to use a flashlight to shower in the morning. The casino was decent, with plenty of popular games. The surrounding area isn’t great, just be warned. The location does work well if you want to stay off the Strip, get in and out of the city for travel, and avoid the hassle of being on the Strip.

I keep coming back to the Rio Hotel & Casino, having stayed there at least seven or eight times, and it’s still one of my favorite Las Vegas stays. The rooms have recently been upgraded and feel noticeably cleaner, nicer, and more comfortable than they used to. I also find the prices very good for what you get, with solid amenities. The pool area is relaxing and roomy, and hasn’t felt as packed as some of the big Strip resorts. I’ll definitely stay there again on future trips.
