We booked at short notice because our dog had surgery and we didn’t want to make the 3 1/2-hour trip home. The price was very affordable and the location was ideal for the animal hospital. The room’s heat worked well, there was plenty of hot water, the bed was moderately comfortable, breakfast was sufficient, and the staff were kind. The toilet flushed, but we had to jiggle the handle to make it stop running. The shower curtain rod sagged, so the curtain wouldn’t stay closed. I’d stay here again.

Breakfast was awful. It was like a dollar-store continental spread: just two cereals and a small pitcher of milk that might cover three bowls, so it could run out fast when busy. Half the toaster didn’t work, there was only white and wheat bread, and the frozen waffles were open on a tray in the fridge beside the yogurt. The coffee tasted worse than truck-stop coffee, the juice was watery, and the only fruit was brown, overripe bananas. They had tiny muffins too, each about the size of my thumb. The room itself was okay, but the fridge was noisy and barely kept my drinks cold. The curtains wouldn’t close all the way, which was fine at night but not great when I wanted to sleep in.

The floors looked clean, but our feet turned black when we walked around barefoot. After our first day out, we returned to a room with the trash still there, beds unmade, and no fresh towels. The desk told us housekeeping only comes every two days. The next day, we were out again and got back around 8 pm to find the room still untouched, with the beds unmade, trash remaining, and towels on the bathroom floor. What a joke. The second night there was also a loud party in the hallway between several rooms near ours, and we couldn’t sleep. My niece booked a second room with her two 2-pound dogs and paid a fee, but was told she couldn’t leave them alone to go eat. We had to take them to my brother’s. Restaurants don’t normally allow dogs inside. I’m very disappointed and wouldn’t use or recommend this hotel again.

The place is clean and easy to get to, and the price is economical. When we came in with lots of bags, we didn’t realize there was no elevator. We could manage the stairs, but after we’d carried everything inside, front office manager PK thoughtfully moved us to a ground-floor room. He couldn’t have been more accommodating. I’m not sure why people write bad reviews. They must just be very angry people.

The worst part was waking up with what looked like bedbug bites on my arm and leg. The room itself was dated, and the bathroom was especially run-down. From the entrance and lobby through the halls, everything looked old, scratched up, damaged, and dirty. The property felt neglected, and the rooms didn't look like the online photos at all. This was my first stay at a Microtel, and it'll be my last.
