Days Inn by Wyndham Laurel MS

Breakfast was delicious, the room was clean, and the property felt safe and well kept. The front desk and housekeeping were friendly and quick to help with questions or requests. From check-in, the staff treated us with kindness and respect. The manager was patient, informative, professional, and made sure we were comfortable. It felt like he actually cared, which you don’t find everywhere. I’ve stayed at budget and high-end hotels over the years, and the service at Days Inn in Laurel, Mississippi is among the best I’ve had. There’s a sister property next door, and based on this experience, I’d expect the same level of service there. If you’re in Laurel for work or just passing through, I’d recommend this Days Inn. The manager was rude and dismissive when I tried to sort out an extra charge on my account. He didn’t review the issue or make an effort to fix it, and said I should already know the hotel policies, since he and his staff weren’t responsible for explaining them. I’d also tried calling several times beforehand. I was given different arrival times for the manager, but he didn’t show up when expected, which delayed resolving my concern. The poor communication and lack of help left me feeling disrespected. I expected better service and accountability.

The rooms were dirty and had German roaches. Staff didn’t seem to care about either the bugs or the cleanliness. The free breakfast was underwhelming too. Gross.

The rooms were very clean and the staff pleasant, but the hotel is starting to feel dated. I booked specifically for the pool in the hot, muggy weather, and found it had been drained for a while, with green, mossy water left in the deep end despite the listing. A solid three-star place otherwise.
