The room had a sewer smell that kept getting worse, and the rate felt expensive. One thing that made me uneasy was how direct bookings combined the room charge and deposit into one transaction. They refunded the deposit promptly and consistently after checkout, but check your payment before and after your stay. The room and beds were clean, there was a walk-in shower and well-lit parking, and the service was good. Still, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Perry and his wife made this place feel like a Ritz to me. The owner/operator, Perry, greeted me in the office and gave remarkable service and hospitality, better than I’ve had at other motels. From the outside it looked like an ordinary, run-of-the-mill motel. It may not have much elegance, but the welcome made all the difference.

The room clearly hadn’t been vacuumed in a while, and there was no hot water when I tried to shower. Before I could even settle in, I had to go back to the office three times to get a key that worked. I mentioned the problems at checkout, but despite the $69 charge for one night, they offered no discount or refund.

It’s the usual motel that’s been bought and sold a bunch of times. Nobody who owns it seems to really upgrade anything, apart from putting on some new paint.

We slept well on the comfortable beds during our two nights at the Relax Inn a few weeks ago, and were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was inside. From Cache, it looked like the other older motels along the road. We have business in Lawton again soon, so Jim and Mary plan to book another overnight stay in a few weeks.
