Best Western Plus Layton Park Hotel

The noise was constant, and sleep was nearly impossible. I could hear the person next door singing in the bathroom, and every door slammed with no soundproofing at all. On Wednesday, loud guests moved into the room above mine. There was nonstop stomping and running. I complained twice and played a recording, but the desk said they could move me. They should have addressed the people who had just checked in instead. The employee said he would call them, but the noise kept going. I don't know if he called or they simply didn't care. I checked in Monday. In room 327, in case those guests see this, please control your children. The hotel also confirmed only one of the two double rooms I'd booked, and caught the mistake only after I pointed it out. The third floor vending machine was broken the whole stay. The laundry room's coin dispenser was empty of detergent, and the front desk had none, so I drove to Walgreens at 6am in 30 degree weather. Without a rental car I'd have had to walk in the dark. The reviews I relied on seem doctored, and I can't understand the “excellent” rating. I won't return or recommend this place.

Conveniently just off the freeway, yet the location was surprisingly quiet. The price felt reasonable for this class of hotel, and the manager deserves recognition for how well the place is kept. Everything was spotless, including the stairwells, room, bathroom, bed, and carpet. They weren't stingy with the extras either. The Kuerig and the decent coffee were sparkling, and there were six pods in our two queen room. The ice maker was sparkling too.

We'd arranged in advance for two adjoining rooms when we called to book, and they said that was possible. But when we arrived, the rooms weren't together, which wasn't good with kids. Staff were rude and said they were full and couldn't do anything. One room had a strange smell, and the beds were lumpy and uncomfortable. I wasn't impressed.

I've only recently started writing reviews, but after staying at five hotels in five days, BW plus Layton really stood out. It was so peaceful, and the staff seemed tuned in to what guests need these days. Alec especially was wonderful. He knew the surrounding area so well that he felt like my best friend for four days, and his service made me feel like gold staus. If you've traveled a lot, you'll get what I mean. I don't know if he's a manager, but he should be. Thanks to everyone for a great stay.
